Our Christmas List!

We're just FIVE days away from Christmas, so it's definitely time to share our Christmas list! We've got big plans for our 2019, but we can't do it without your help. So in no particular, we've assembled a Christmas list of our FIVE biggest wishes for next year!

  • ACTORS: We need a wide variety of talent this year and we're already scheduling auditions for January. There are at least 14 female and 17 male speaking roles available, plus ensemble roles. More information about auditions will be upcoming in our next blog entry, so stay tuned or visit our Facebook page!

  • HOUSE MANAGERS: House managing is really a "one night only" kind of commitment, but it's essential to making sure each performance runs smoothly. House managers arrive early to help set up directional signs and oversee patrons finding a seat. Of course, there's more to it than that, but it's definitely a nice way to dip your toes into volunteering with us!

  • TECHNICAL DIRECTORS: If you love technology, this is your lane! Technical directors typically work on one show per season. Tech is in charge of running lights and sound for every performance, as well as the week before the show opens, known as "tech week." And don't be intimidated if you've got no experience! While some shows can certainly be challenging (*cough*Blithe Spirit*cough*), we're more than happy to teach interested volunteers of any level.

  • PRODUCERS: Organization and coordination are the key qualities of a great producer. Producers work behind the scenes with the director, the publicity committee, and the house managers (as well as others!) to make sure all the elements of the show are coming together. This is a highly involved position that is incredibly vital to the success of each production.

  • STAGE MANAGERS: If you want to be in charge backstage, stage managing is probably the best place for you. Stage managers are in charge of setting the stage and props before the show, and cleaning up once the show is over. Often, duties include making set changes between scenes and even whipping up food for consumption onstage. This is the perfect position for someone who really wants to be involved, but doesn't want to the pressure of being seen onstage.

At this point, the only positions we have filled are our directors, and we are excited to assemble a mix of both new and veteran Bobcats for 2019! If any of these positions interest you, please contact us. If you don't feel like any of these fit your schedule, consider selling tickets or helping build sets. Or, if you feel there are other ways that you could contribute, we'd love to hear them! We are always open to adding more reliable members.

As always, we are grateful for your patronage and we appreciate you even considering contributing to our next season. So from all of us on the Bobcat Players board of directors, Merry Christmas and cheers to 2019!
