Reaching Out!

You may or may not be aware, but the Bobcat Players have a long-standing tradition of taking performances on the road. This tradition, which dates back nearly 10 years, has been carried out in the hopes of bringing the joy of theatre to people who may not usually attend our shows. Last year, we took this one step farther by participating in the Pittsburgh New Works Festival. That successful endeavor resulted in the award for Best Staged Reading! We are looking forward to participating again later this year, but for now, we are focusing our efforts closer to home.

For the past five years, the Bobcat Players have performed annually at Liberty Hills, a local retirement center. Plays have ranged from original murder mysteries to racy comedies. Last year, audiences went crazy for our performances of Bedtimes Stories by Norm Foster. This year, we are shaking things up in true Bobcat fashion.

Our 2017 outreach show is an entitled What I Did For Love: A Series of Lighthearted One Acts. We have scoured the nation for the best 10-minute original plays to bring to our audiences and have combined these works for a hilarious comedy hour. These original one acts were all penned and produced in the last three years and feature the common theme of love—all types, including maternal, romantic, connubial, erotic, and more! What I Did For Love will feature favorite and first-time directors, as well as a wide variety of actors and actresses. We're even reviving our award-winning performance from the Pittsburgh New Works Festival! In just over two weeks, the Bobcat Players will perform at Liberty Hill and its sister location, Sewickley Ridge.

So… you might be wondering how to join us for this amazing show! Last year, we performed twice at the Grand Valley Inn for delicious dinner theatre, but this year, we're trying something new. We're inviting you to an exclusive performance at our home, the Ed Schaughency Theater, in Beaver Area Senior High School! This one-night-only show will take place on February 25 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are only $5 and light refreshments will be provided. There will also be multiple prize giveaways, including a grand prize of season tickets! To receive more information, join our mailing list and visit our Facebook page. We can't wait to see you there!
